Signs It Is Time to Replace Your Home’s Locks

Replacing your home’s locks is not something that many of us ever think about. You have lived in your home for years or recently bought a new one. We assume that our locks are foolproof and will always protect us. However, this is not completely true. Here are some signs that indicate you should have your locks replaced:

• Recent Home Break-In: If your home has recently been burglarized, you should replace all your locks, even if the locks were not damaged. It is possible that the burglar had access to a key that fit your lock and was able to open your door. New locks are a safety measure to prevent further break-ins.

• Purchased a New Home: You never know if past tenants or homeowners have copies of the keys to your new home. Do not take that chance and have your locks rekeyed or replaced.

• Hard to Lock: This can be an indication that there are issues with your locks’ hardware that need to be repaired or replaced. It can also cause you to think you locked your door, but it is not locked.
